Scary traffic sign: how big are those amphibians? Or maybe they are small, but in millions. We didn't see any... fortunately.
Cascais is a small town in the very west of Portugal, which we visited after enjoying the visit to Quinta da Regaleira and before heading back to Lisbon. By the way, between Sintra and Cascais, you can find Estoril, which is very well known for many reasons: the spanish Royal family lived there, there is a MotoGP prize there, and some international meetings also take place in it. I like when I find something I have heard about, but had no previous idea of where it was located.
Cascais is full of English people, and many of them are permanent residents, while many others just visit it for vacation. I love places next to the sea like this one in low season, as it is very relaxing, and there is always local activity regarding to the fishing, which is quite entertaining. 🙂
In our trip to Lisbon, we rented a car one day and drove to Sintra and Cascais, which are both pretty near from Lisbon, and are easily affordable in a one-day trip.

Sintra is a town with plenty of touristic attractions, mainly palaces and castles, but also some natural parks. We devoted a couple of hours in visiting the Quinta da Regaleira, which is an estate comprising different buildings including a palace, and a park with impressive fountains, lakes and tunnels, with . For me, it was like Parc Güell in Barcelona, but I liked this one more.
Definitely, a must if you go to Lisbon for more than 2 days.
