En estas fechas tan entrañables… Todo son buenos deseos para estos días y para el nuevo año. En español, deseamos un feliz o un próspero año nuevo, pero los alemanes son mucho más gráficos.
Allí dicen:
Guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr
Esto viene a significar: Buen resbalón en el nuevo año. Esto puede parecer un poco bruto, pero tenemos algo parecido en español: entrar con buen pie en el año nuevo.
Resumiendo, y para que nos enteremos todos:
¡Feliz Navidad y Próspero Año Nuevo!

Actualización: Como comenta Keisten en los comentarios, parece ser que el origen de utilizar Rutsch es una confusión. Parece que proviene de la palabra hebrea Rosh, que significa principio y que se convirtió en Rutsch. En esta página, se puede leer lo siguiente al respecto (en inglés):
Some linguists claim that this traditional New Year’s expression in German has nothing to do with “sliding” (rutschen) into the new year?despite the fact that most German-speakers understand it that way. The expression may come from the Hebrew word “rosh,” meaning “head” or “beginning” ?thus the beginning of a new year. The expression could have come into German via the Yiddish for “a good beginning” ?as in “Rosh Hashanah,” the Jewish New Year. That would make it just one of many German (and English) expressions that come from Yiddish.
Hier habe ich über den Ausdruck guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr gesprochen. Ein Freund, Keisten, hat ein Komentar darüber geschrieben, wo er sagte, dass es ein Fehler ist. Man wollte rosh auf Hebräisch sagen, rosh bedeutet Anfang, was es mehr logical ist. Man kann weiter darüber hier lesen.
