Saint Andrews is a town around 70 km away from Edimburgh in the eastern coast of Scotland, which is very famous because golf was born here. That was the main thing all travel guides talked about, but there is a lot more than just golf. It got its name from Scotland’s patron saint, and lying on the seaside has a couple of interesting medieval remains, its cathedral and its castle. A perfect stopover on our way to the north.

After the Borders, we stopped for two days in Edimburgh, the capital of Scotland. Nice city, plenty of medieval buildings and streets governed by a well-preserved castle on top of a hill, and hosting the world’s most famous sheep: Dolly. A nice city, especially if you don’t get rain…
Castle of Edimburgh, hosting the Stone of Scone, one of the most importante national symbols in Scotland.

The school J.K.Rowling got inspired by, when writing Harry Potter's books.
 Victoria Street
One nice thing you can find all around Edimburgh are the closes, small corridors communicating streets at different levels and the courtyards you can easily get lost in… some for worse, some for better.

If everything goes fine, I should be boarding an Easyjet flight to Lisbon for a couple of days. A few days off to say definitely goodbye to the summer, as it is getting quickly colder in Madrid.
Furthermore, I have never been to Portugal and I am really looking forward to this trip. Time to enjoy nice company, to see new things, take some pictures, and to read and learn about a unknown neighbor country…
See you in a few days…

After the technical stop in Lake District, and before arriving to Edinburgh, we went to the Borders Region. A region which has witnessed lots of battles between the English and the Scottish troops, full of (destroyed) abbeys and with an amazing landscape, as it is a natural border with England, with lots of hills, and very few population around… I’m not used to that at all!
The scottish flag is called Saltire, and represents Saint Andrew's cross... And, like in the swedish case, it also appeared in the sky (therefore the blue blackground) of a battlefield and led to the victory of the scottish army.

The Hermitage Castle, in the perfect "middle of nowhere". According to Wikipedia, it was formely known as the "guardhouse of the bloodiest valley in Britain". After seeing where it lies, I perfectly understand that name.
I like the look of the british chimneys... The remind me to Mary Poppins' film!
Jedburrgh Abbey. For me, the nicest one in the whole Borders Region.
